Biography :
Qi Hong is a Ph.D. candidate in modern Chinese literature and history. They are also affiliated with the Book History and Print Culture (BHPC) program. Their dissertation explores the science, aesthetics, and politics of “linguistic sound” in late imperial and Republican China. Situated at the intersection of book and literary history and the history of science and technology, this study aims to historicize linguistic concepts and experiments within the broader intellectual community of late Qing and Republican China.
Before graduate school, Qi worked as a part-time interpreter and translator in Beijing, China. She used to be a half-hearted volleyball player (MB/S), and now she spends more time sparring.
